The British Columbia Institute of Technology implements Book King to manage the Broadcasting Department

»   June 25, 2007 - Victoria, BC - The British Columbia Institute of Technology selects Book King to manage Scheduling requirements for the Broadcastin Department.

The Broadcast and Media Communications department at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) required a cost effective solution to offer their students to book facilities and equipment. With a number of different facilities and equipment offered to the students in different programs, BCIT required the ability to limit the students facilities and equipment usage based on their program. The system needed to allow self service and be accessible from any computer on or off campus.

Book King's Schedule Module was selected to meet these needs and provide the BCIT staff additional automation. The Scheduling Module is able to limit facility bookings for each student to a specified number of hours each month. The Module is also able to restrict access to specific facilities or equipment based on the program the student is currently enrolled.

About the British Columbia Institute of Technology

BCIT builds pathways for career success with full-time and part-time studies leading to certificates, diplomas and applied bachelor's degrees. Technological innovation demands higher levels of applied knowledge. BCIT is developing applied master's degrees for several disciplines.

The Broadcast and Media Communications programs were initiated through the combined efforts of the British Columbia Association of Broadcasters and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. The need for trained personnel continues in radio and television, broadcast journalism and related areas. The educational emphasis is upon versatility. A graduate may find employment in a variety of occupations within broadcasting and associated industries. Students enrol in one of three programs: Radio, Television or Broadcast Journalism.
